Learning outcome – objectives
The course Teaching beyond the classroom: exploring nature, culture, and art (math) will help participants to:
- Integrate art into teaching to support students’ well-being.
- Plan and conduct lessons in urban environments.
- Combine learning beyond the classroom with “ordinary” classroom activities.
- Use activity approaches to foster motivation, creative thinking, and learning.
- Experience and implement activities in nature, applying various subjects.
- Design, plan, and share educational activities inspired by the environment.
- Understand the pedagogical and social benefits of learning beyond the classroom
Monday
- Introduction and presentation to the course beyond the Classroom: Exploring Nature, Culture, and Art
- Icebreaker activities
- An out-door activity
- Welcome to a new European network; presentation from each participant (school / organization, culture, country – max 5 minutes)
Tuesday
- Introduction to a day at the museum with focus on art
- Bringing art into teaching and education by using a museum as space of possibilities
- Encountering and exploring professional visual art with students
Wednesday
We will travel together by ferry to the Island of Fanø
- Introduction to a day on Fanø with focus on Nature and art – connection to the landscape through sketching.
- How nature and landscape offer a space for teaching and interpretation
- Language, mathematics or aesthetics – observing personal experience with our environment
- A walk on Fanø with paper and pen – experiencing history and connection to the unique nature in the Wadden Sea (a UNESCO world heritage site)
Thursday
- Introduction to math-teaching through activities
- Focus on how various activities in math-teaching can contribute to motivation, creative thinking, and learning
- How can the outdoor environment be actively incorporated into the planning of activities and teaching?
Friday
- Reflection on new methodology focusing on beyond the Classroom: Exploring Nature, Culture, and Art, structures, new European network
- An outdoor activity
- Evaluation, feedback
- Presentation and distribution of “certificate of attendance”
What is included:

Price
- EURO 450 (excl. VAT)
- including 1 x lunch and 1 x dinner
- ferry-ticket to the island of Fanø

- Erasmus-documentation (“certificate of attendance”, signatures on learning agreement etc.)
Participants
- a minimum of 10 participants (and max 18)
In case of cancellation
- In case of cancellation 1 month before the start of the course 50% of the fee will be refunded.
In case of cancellation less than 1 month before the start of the course the fee will not be refunded.
In case of unforeseen circumstances the participants are expected to be covered by their own insurance.
